05/30/07: Microsoft Surface

I realize most photographers (advanced hobbyists to pros) are loyal to the Macintosh world...however, I'm still a PC geek -- have been for over 15 years. Our friends at Microsoft have recently announced their new Surface technology. Click here to check out a demo of Surface. You gotta admit it looks pretty cool. Stay tuned for more details on how this product will affect photographers and other creative types in the months and years to come.

(Though I still wonder how you can child proof something like this!)

Yeah for the PC geeks out there! Glad I won't be alone in Orlando next week. Windows users, represent! :-)

GREAT. Now you can have a PC where you can get infected by viruses... BOTH on your computer and through your fingertips.

It looks cool but, wouldn't your arms get tired? It seems like it requires a lot of motion.
It could be good for children or people with disabilities.

The other thing to consider is that this isn't ground-breaking stuff. Apple has already released devices using this technology, particularly the new iPhone.

Don't bother getting a PC version of this. Whatever they release is just a poorly cloned version of what Apple releases.

Hey -- great comments everyone! Something to keep in mind...while most creative types live (eat, sleep, drink, etc.) in an Apple world, most consumers own PCs. So you can worship them or you can stay away from them...but you probably should not ignore PCs if they impact your business! ;)
